Content creator and leaker Rebs Gaming, who has previously shown to be reliably informed about what happens behind the scenes of the Halo franchise, has shared new details about the development of Halo: Campaign Evolved. According to what he reportedly learned from an anonymous but trusted source, the remake of the original Halo will make wide use of assets taken from Halo Infinite, even though it is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 instead of the now-retired Slipspace Engine. This means several Covenant and UNSC marine models are being reused from Halo Infinite.
This would not be the first time something like this has happened. Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary had already received some criticism from part of the community for reusing assets from other games instead of faithfully recreating everything from the original 2001 release.

At the same time, this reported reuse of assets, which has not been officially confirmed, would be balanced by new content created specifically for this “evolved campaign.” Among these are the already confirmed prequel missions. According to Rebs Gaming, these missions will focus on the rivalry between the ODST and the Spartans, which dates back to the early days of Dr. Halsey’s Spartan program. They are also said to include references to Halo Reach, a new Covenant faction, and some level of involvement from the Brutes.
Although Rebs Gaming has reported accurate Halo related information in the past, this should still be taken with a grain of salt. Officially, what we know from Microsoft is that Halo Campaign Evolved will be “a faithful yet expanded remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign,” featuring “HD visuals, refined controls, up to 4-player online co-op, 3 new missions, and an expanded arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and new enemies.”
The game is scheduled to release this year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with day-one availability on Game Pass.
